Microsoft (MSFT) Buys Email App Acompli

Microsoft (MSFT) has just acquired email app Acompli.

MicrosoftThe app was developed by a startup of the same name and its main purpose is to organize email. “Our goal is to deliver fantastic cross-platform apps that support the variety of email services people use today and help them accomplish more,” wrote Rajesh Jha, Microsoft corporate vice president for Outlook and Office 365, in a blog post.

Acompli was founded in 2013 and it has developed software for Android and Apple (AAPL) mobile devices. The app has a number of features including the ability to see email and the calendar side by side.

“This acquisition brings us an app with innovative technology and a set of talented people who are passionate about reinventing email and communications on mobile screens,” concludes Jha.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed by either party but re/code reports that it was valued at more than $200 million.

MSFT stock is up about 1.6% Monday afternoon.
