A wealthy hedge fund founder was shot dead in his New York home over the weekend.
Wainscott Capital Partners Fund founder Thomas Gilbert was found dead with a single gunshot wound through his head. Authorities say the 70-year-old was likely murdered and the apartment seemed like a “staged crime scene.”
30-year-old son Thomas Gilbert Jr. was arrested by New York police on charges of homicide and criminal possession of a weapon. A .40-caliber handgun with matching ammunition was discovered at the scene.
Police arrested the younger Gilbert at another New York apartment. His mother said Gilbert Jr. asked her to leave the room in order to talk to his father, who was dead when she returned.
Wainscott was founded in 2011 and it focuses on the biotech and healtchare industries.
