Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street today, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 1.0%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.5%, the Nasdaq pushed 0.5% higher and the S&P 500 rose 0.5%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is up 4.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Sociedad Quimica Y Minera S.A. (SQM): SQM stock is up 4.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Westlake Chemical Corp (WLK): WLK stock is up 3.4% today.

• Celanese Corp (CE): CE stock is up 3.0% today.

• Hecla Mining Company (HL): HL stock is up 2.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is up 2.7% today.

• Actuant Corp (ATU): ATU stock is up 2.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Crane Company (CR): CR stock is up 2.5% today.

• Alcoa Inc (AA): AA stock is up 2.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Dover Corp (DOV): DOV stock is up 2.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Albany International Corp (AIN): AIN stock is down 1.6% today.

• Innophos Holdings (IPHS): IPHS stock is down 1.4% today.

• Matthews International Corp (MATW): MATW stock is down 1.3% today.

• Wd-40 Company (WDFC): WDFC stock is down 0.9% today.

• Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH): TNH stock is down 0.7% today.

• International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF): IFF stock is down 0.7% today.

• Berry Plastics Group Inc (BERY): BERY stock is down 0.7% today.

• Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is down 0.7% today on 2 times normal volume.

• Calgon Carbon Corp (CCC): CCC stock is down 0.7% today.
