Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) may be tracking anyone that’s ever visited its website.
A new report claims that users that have logged out of or deleted their Facebook accounts are still being followed by the company. It also claims that users that opted out of being tracked are still spied on by the company, reports The Independent.
If the new report is accurate, then it means that Facebook has been breaking European law by tracking people without letting them know about it. However, the company claims that the report “contains factual inaccuracies,”
The Independent notes.
“Their main goal is to try and make money by advertising to you, and this means tracking you as much as possible,” Professor Bart Preneel, co-author of the report on Facebook’s tracking, told The Verge.
