McWhopper: McDonald’s Says No to Burger King’s ‘Peace’ Burger

Burger King wants to make peace with McDonald’s (MCD) with a hybrid burger called the “McWhopper.”

mcwhopper-burger-mcdonalds-mcdBurger King issued an open letter to McDonald’s seeking peace with the McWhopper. The company decided it would be a burger with Big Mac Sauce and its beef patties. It wanted the burger to be available on Peace Day, which is Sept. 21, and said all proceeds should go to the One Peace Day organization, reports The Los Angeles Times.

The open letter to McDonald’s from Burger king were full-page ads that appeared in the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune today. The burger chain suggested the two open a small store it Atlanta for a single day to sell the McWhopper, reports The Wall Street Journal.

McDonald’s wasn’t too keen on Burger King’s McWhopper idea and ended up turning it down. The company said it liked the overall idea, but felt the two could do more. It also finished its statement by telling Burger King that a “simple phone call will do next time,” L.A. Times notes.
