McCormick & Co. already has many products that don’t contain GMOs. However, it will now start labeling these items as such. It will also be changing to non-GMO spices and herbs with about 80% of them being so by 2016, reports Food Dive.
McCormick & Co. recently announced that it’s now offering non-GMO vanilla extract. It also announced several other products that are going to be switching to organic offerings. The switch to non-GMO spices and herbs comes before the holiday season, which sees many people using more McCormick products in their cooking, Food Dive notes.
“Our consumers are increasingly interested in quality flavors with pure ingredients in their food,” Lawrence Kurzius, President and COO of McCormick & Co., told Baltimore Business Journal. “Our effort to increase our organic and non-GMO offerings proves that we are listening to our consumers and are committed to continuing to evolve.”
