April Fool's Day, Google, GOOG, GOOGLGoogle updated Gmail today with a feature called “Mic Drop” that let users end a conversation with a GIF of a Minion from Despicable Me dropping a mic. It seemed like a fun idea, but the company quickly turned it off after backlash.

What the new Minion Mic Drop feature did was send out the GIF and then make it so that users wouldn’t see responses. The company admits that this actually caused “more headaches than laughs” and said it was sorry for the prank.
