BK Whopperrito: The New Burger King Whopper-Burrito Rolls Out Nationwide

Burger King — owned by Restaurant Brands International Inc (NYSE:QSR) — is launching the Whopperrito everywhere in the U.S.

WhopperitoThe burrito-Whopper hybrid was first announced in early June, when it was rolled out as a test in certain Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas stores. Following a successful test, the burger giant is releasing the mammoth fast food creation nationwide.

The Whopperrito sounds quite tasty, as it uses the Whopper’s signature beef patty, along with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, pickles, queso sauce, seasoning and it is all contained inside a flour tortilla rather than a burger bun.

“The Whopperrito is a new interpretation of the Tex-Mex trend in a way that only Burger King restaurants could imagine,” said Alex Macedo, president of Burger King North America in a statement.

The sandwich/burrito will retail for $2.99. Alternately, you can pay $4.99 for a Whopperrito combo, which comes with fries and a beverage.

The company added that it will make its product releases less frequent but “more impactful” moving forward.

Burger King has released quite a few adventurous products in recent months, including the Mac ‘n Cheetos in June, which consists of deep-fried Mac ‘n Cheese covered in crushed-up Cheetos.

The restaurant also tested the “Angriest Whopper” back in March, which features a red bun and it’s infused with hot sauce, or “spicy angry sauce.”

QSR shares grew slightly on Monday, rising 0.1% by the afternoon.
