KFCA KFC – owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM) — has come under fire following a health scare that may be related to the store’s health standards, or lack thereof.

An Arkansas mother claims she found maggots on the menu at her local KFC restaurant. However, many are casting doubt on these allegations.

She said that her young son ate some chicken from the restaurant, got ill and started vomiting. He had to be taken to the emergency room following the alleged incident.

A video of the maggots eating the chicken was uploaded, suggesting it may be true. However, there is no way of knowing where this video was taken.

It is possible that the woman took it in her house, and the chicken is not as fresh as she claims it is. Maggots inside the chicken would not be able to survive the process of being deep-fried, one user noted.

West Helena police uploaded the video to warn users of the potential sanitation shortcomings surrounding this location. The video was then taken down.

One user said the woman probably bought the chicken a while ago, refrigerated it for a week, then fed it to her boy which resulted in maggots already being in there.

She may be looking for a lawsuit to get paid, and perhaps she even put her son’s life in danger intentionally to achieve this goal.

YUM stock is up 1.2% Tuesday.
