Tropical Storm Nicole may soon become a hurricane.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the freak of nature is in Bermuda as a tropical storm. For a brief period of time, it became a category 1 hurricane and even a category 2 hurricane briefly.
Tropical Storm Nicole lost some of its strength, but it looks like it will soon become a hurricane once again. It will hit the East Coast in the U.S. as fellow Hurricane Matthew spins away from the U.S.
The hurricane is marked by strong winds, a high surf and intense rain that will be affecting Bermuda and nearby islands over the coming day. On Thursday, it will hit Bermuda as a category 2 hurricane at a speed of 160 km/h.The hurricane may also hit Canada if it continues garnering strength and its trajectory northward continues.
Eastern Canada may be susceptible to the strength of Hurricane Nicole. It is expected that the storm will mostly following its northern trajectory, but it is anyone’s guess where it will land exactly. The North American coast will be affected, including parts of Newfoundland.
The storm was previously behind Hurricane Matthew, which moved across the Caribbean, including Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Cuba. It lost speed and moved towards the Southeastern parts of the U.S., including Florida and South Carolina.
At least 800 people in Haiti alone died from the strong hurricane which was stronger than the new storm. Hurricane Nicole will not have such a negative effect on the population, but it may still be a dangerous storm.
