The Destiny 2 servers are down for maintenance since early this morning.
Bungie — the software maker responsible for the game — announced today that it would be shutting down the game’s servers from 6 a.m. PT/9 p.m. ET, and they will be back in action at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET, so in less than an hour.
The players who were in the middle of a raid were kicked off from the game during the maintenance period. The reason behind the sudden maintenance comes due to the Faction Rallies addition to the game, which will kick off on Sept. 26.
The new mode of playing Destiny 2 will allow players to be part of the Dead Orbit (represented by Arach Jalaal), Future War Cult (Lakshmi-2) and New Monarchy (Executor Hideo). They can then gather supplies for the faction of their choosing.
You can learn more about Destiny 2’s Faction Rallies here. These events take place on a weekly basis as part of a rest, and this week’s iteration of Faction Rallies will kick off Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 2 a.m. PT/5 a.m. PT.
It will run through the same time on Oct. 3. All three factions from the original Destiny are returning, bringing back some nostalgia to a game series that’s been among the most popular online titles since 2014.
Once you choose a faction, you can earn Faction Tokens by completing in public events, Lost Sectors, Strikes, the Raid, or by playing Crucible.
