Facebook Inc’s (NASDAQ:FB) new video chatting app Bonfire was quietly released in a limited Europe market a couple of days ago.
It was rolled out to a
limited group of people in Denmark as the company looks to test new ways to connect its users around the world. Here are seven things to know about Facebook Bonfire:
- With the app, you can have multiple video chats going at once.
- You can apply special effects to your video chat, while also having the ability share pictures to Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.
- Bonfire will send you a notification in Messenger if someone’s trying to chat with you.
- Once you join multiple conversation, you can choose how you’d like to format these conversations, giving everyone equal screen space or giving priority to the person speaking.
- The app has been downloaded about 2,000 times in Denmark with good user retention, according to The Next Web.
- Bonfire follows Facebook’s recent comments towards “build[ing] community and bring the world closer together.”
- “We are interested in how everyone uses technology and how we can build great experiences for them,” the social media giant told The Next Web. “We’re running a very small test in Denmark of an app we call Bonfire. We have nothing further to share at this time.”
FB shares were higher on the news, surging about 0.4% Friday.
