A former employee went to an online forum to note how the burger chain that its workers to pinch the bottom of the carton of French fries in order to serve less to its consumers. Most consumers didn’t realize that there were less fries until they went home and looked at their food.

“I worked at McDonald’s and they taught me how to pinch the fry carton just right while putting the fries into them so that it looked full, but actually wasn’t,” a former employee wrote on the forum.

Another former worker said the same thing, claiming the company asked him to serve less French fries. He said he hated that practice and refused to act on it as it was against his beliefs.

“Never got fired, but managed to have a few customers ask me when my shifts were the next week so they could have me filling their fries,” he said.

McDonald’s has denied these allegations, saying such claims are “fictional” as “there are no ‘secret tricks’ and we have strict operational procedures in place to ensure that fry portions are not under-filled. Without a verified source we are unable to investigate this further,”

MCD stock grew 1.1% Monday.
