News that the Tesla semi-truck is closer to launch was announced by CEO Elon Musk. According to Musk, the grand reveal for the semi-truck will occur on Oct. 26, 2017. The event will be taking place in Hawthorne, Calif.

Elon Musk’s announcement about the launch event for the Tesla semi-truck was made via Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR). In the Tweet, he said that it will be worth seeing the vehicle in person. He also described the semi-truck as a “beast” and “unreal.”

Musk also notes that the Tesla semi-truck reveal will include showing off what the electric vehicle is capable of. This includes a test ride of it. The TSLA CEO notes that the date for the launch and test ride is still tentative and may change in the future.

The October launch date for the Tesla semi-truck is actually later than expected. Musk was previously planning to show off prototypes of the vehicle in September. Not much is actually known about the vehicle, but there are a few solid guesses about its capabilities.

  • The semi-truck will likely have a range between 200 miles and 300 miles on a single charge.
  • This will account for 30% of all semi-truck deliveries.
  • Buying the electric semi-truck will be more expensive than a normal one, but maintenance will be cheaper.
  • Elon Musk is hoping to start large-scale production of the Tesla semi-truck in the next couple of years.

TSLA stock was down slightly as of Thursday morning.

As of this writing, William White did not hold a position in any of the aforementioned securities.
