  • Trash Rainbows: One of the most original Earth Day activities comprises of making trash rainbows by gluing together pieces of trash of different colors.
  • Sidewalk Paint: With the right tools, you can make eco-friendly sidewalk paint for kids looking to do something fun without hurting the environment. You’ll need corn starch, cold water and food coloring.
  • Butterfly Garden: In order to help insects such as butterflies have a comfortable environment, you can make a butterfly garden using recycled materials along with seeds, mud and tools to make it happen.
  • Bottle Compost: You can use a soda bottle with items such as wood shavings, wood chips, newspaper strips, lettuce scraps, apple cores, bread crusts, banana peels and more to create a compost that shows kids how the decomposition process happens.
  • Scavenger Hunt: Create an Earth Day-themed scavenger hunt where you and your kids search for a number of items that are recyclable or biodegradable.
  • Make Paper: You can also make paper with kids with a window screen, plastic wash tubs, a washcloth, water, torn paper and a blender. It’s a fun experience that kids will love.
