Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced that it is discontinuing its Groove Music Pass.

Here are a few things for Microsoft Groove Music Pass users to know.

  • Users of the music streaming service will no longer be able to use it starting on Dec. 31. 2017.
  • The Groove Music app will remain functional after this, but won’t be able to stream music.
  • However, it will still be able to play music that customers have bought, downloaded or uploaded to OneDrive.
  • Music downloaded via Music Pass will no longer be valid after the cutoff date.
  • Microsoft also notes that it will be reimbursing customers that have a Groove Music Pass subscription that extends beyond Dec. 31. 2017.
  • The refund that Groove Music Pass subscribers get will be prorated.
  • The company will send this refund to the credit card or payment method the customer used to purchase the subscription with.
  • If MSFT is unable to return the refund to customers in this way, it will grant them a Microsoft Store gift card for 120% the prorated amount.
  • These refunds will be paid to customers by Feb. 1, 2018.
  • Microsoft also says that it will be handing out full refunds to customers that cancel their Groove Music Pass subscription within 30 days of its start.
  • Customers that have bought a Music Pass subscription and haven’t redeemed it yet can receive a gift card for the Microsoft Store that is worth 120% of its value.
