The Macarthur Foundation has announced the recipients of the Genius Grants for 2017.

Macarthur Foundation’s Genius Grants has it awarding individuals that show creativity. These individuals are evaluated to determine their future potential. The organization typically hands out the grant to 20 to 30 people every year.
There are a couple of requirements that people must meet to be nominated for the Macarthur Foundation Genius Grant. The first is that they must be a resident or citizen of the United States. The second is that they can’t hold elective office or advanced positions in government.
Each recipient gets $625,000 that is paid out quarterly over five years. The Macarthur Foundation doesn’t require anything from recipients of the Genius Grant once they have been chosen. This means there aren’t evaluations in the five years after they receive the award.
