TSLA Milestone: Tesla Opens 200th Supercharger Station

Tesla Motors (TSLA) announced via Twitter (TWTR) that it has opened its 200th supercharger station.

Tesla’s newest supercharger station was opened up in Oxnard, Calif., on Thursday. Based on the picture shared by the electric car company in the Tweet, it appears that there are eight parking spots available for charging.

Tesla’s supercharger station allows owners of a Model S to travel for free around the country. The superchargers take around 20 minutes to give half a charge to the car’s battery. The stations are located near malls, rest stops and other areas where drivers can stop to relax while their vehicle charges.

Tesla currently has 114 supercharging station in North America, 66 in Europe and 20 in Asia. The company plans to have enough superchargers in the United States to cover 98% of the population in 2015.

TSLA stock saw a marginal increase as of Noon Friday.
