Ezra Miller has been cast as The Flash in the upcoming movie adaptation of the comic book character.
The 22-year-old actor will star as the franchise’s title character in the film, which is slated for a 2018 release. The movie will hit theaters close to 80 years after the 1940 release of the comic’s first issue.
Ezra Miller will also play The Flash’s alter-ego, police scientist Barry Allen who develops lightning-fast speed and reflexes after coming in contact with chemicals.
The movie was announced by WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara as part of a list of upcoming superhero films inspired by DC Comics. The list includes Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg
, Green Lantern and Justice League, which will be released in two parts.
Ezra Miller is perhaps best-known for his performance as eccentric high schooler Patrick in the 2012 film adaptation of Perks of Being a Wallflower.
