Sony (SNE) is planning to test out a new service, called “PlayStation Vue”, that will allow users to stream TV shows online.

PlayStation Vue is a cloud-based service that takes advantage of Sony’s game experience to offer a subscription service similar to cable. The service will offer on-demand and live TV shows to viewers through the internet, reports The New York Times.
Here are a few things to know about the upcoming PlayStation Vue beta, as collected from NYT.
- The company will start testing the service out later this month.
- Select viewers in the New York areas will be able to take part in the beta.
- Those looking to take part in the beta will need a PlayStation 3 or 4.
- The service will start with 75 channels.
- The service will allow users to store TV shows on the cloud for viewing up to 28 days later.
