American Airlines (NYSE:AAL) and Uber have partnered up.
Here are four things to know about the partnership between the two companies, which offer different forms of transportation:
- American Airlines and Uber hope to offer a combined service that is faster, with rider and mileage promotions and better navigation.
- The service is designed to help customers request Uber rides to the airport in step with their itinerary and know where to meet their Uber driver once their flight lands.
- Customers book flights online, then American Airlines will send the e-ticket confirmations via email, and customers can click on the “Remind me to Uber” icon to set a reminder for their rides.
- The deal will benefit the following 11 U.S. airports: Chicago O’Hare, Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas/Fort Worth; Los Angeles; New York’s LaGuardia and JFK; Philadelphia; Phoenix; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; and Washington, D.C.’s Reagan National.
AAL stock is down 1.7% Thursday.
