What happens when we’re faced with something no one has ever seen before – a disruptive force that has no clear historical precedent? Something like artificial general intelligence (AGI).

AI might overhaul the drivetrains and/or fuel sources that power these ships, but it will not replace the ships themselves or the need to transport bulk goods across the Seven Seas. Some industries might not be completely future-proof from the onslaught of AI, but they are at least close to it.

What an increasing number of people are asking today is “Are we on a path toward our own ‘mouse utopia’ thanks to Artificial General Intelligence?”

John C. Maxwell once wrote, “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” This quote rings especially true when it comes to technology, which has been evolving for thousands of years. However, with artificial intelligence, growth isn’t optional. It’s inevitable.

Just as the internet boom created surprising winners, so too will the Road to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). To illustrate further, let’s consider a separate industry where the need for AI is relatively easy to picture: self-driving vehicles.

AI is improving at an exponential rate. And that means we’re quickly reaching a tipping point where the future will look nothing like the past. This point is known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), or “strong” AI.

AI will likely turbocharge the robotics trend. Last week, OpenAI-backed robotics startup Figure AI released a two-minute video of its humanoid robots completing tasks at a BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The healthcare industry is witnessing a groundbreaking trend: the integration of artificial intelligence – something I’ve been following and reporting on here at Smart Money. Neuralink’s PRIME experiment, of course, is major step in connecting healthcare and AI.

Unfortunately, the linear thinking that supports popular opinion lacks perspective and repels the kind of forward thinking that can uncover valuable insights. It can also be deadly for your portfolio.

AI stocks have been the hottest trade on Wall Street since ChatGPT’s launch in late 2022.
