The Whopping Amount FB Interns Make

Interning is far from the most glamorous duty on earth, and it hardly ever pays well. That is, unless, you work at Facebook (NASDAQ:FB).

According to a survey conducted by career site Glassdoor and reported by Business Insider, Facebook interns  average $5,602 per month, which comes to just more than $67,000 per year — almost 60% more than what the average American worker makes, according to the Social Security Administration.

The salaries, even for the lowest rung on the ladder, are so high because Facebook, like all tech companies, faces a very competitive market for quality employees. Firms constantly work to lure employees away from other firms and paying top dollar makes that easier.

Here’s the average salary for some other Facebook employees:

  • Research Scientist: $126,125
  • Product Designer: $107,909
  • Software Engineer: $113,577
  • Operations Engineer: $93,100

Glassdoor used employee reviews and other data to determine the 50 best companies for which to work. Facebook also came in first overall.
