Companies Increasing DividendsPerhaps lost in the glow of a record-breaking week for the Dow Jones is the fact that companies continue to raise dividend levels for investors. This week was no different as a global consumer products giant and a major defense contractor were among the companies announcing new dividend hikes.

In the end, 11 companies made it onto our Companies Increasing Dividends list for the week. (Note: All dividend yields are as of March 8.)

Specialty clothing retailer Chico’s (NYSE:CHS) raised its quarterly dividend 4.8% to 5.5 cents per share, payable on April 1 to shareholders of record on March 18.
CHS Dividend Yield: 1.26%

Consumer products giant Colgate-Palmolive (NYSE:CL) raised its quarterly dividend 10% to 68 cents per share, payable May 15 to shareholders of record on April 23.
CL Dividend Yield: 2.36%

Waste disposal and energy production holding company Covanta (NYSE:CVA) raised its quarterly dividend 10% to 16.5 cents per, share payable on April 5 to shareholders of record  on March 28.
CVA Dividend Yield:3.35%

Independent energy company Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN) raised its quarterly dividend 10% to 22 cents per share, payable on June 28 to shareholders of record on June 14. This is Devon’s 8th consecutive dividend increase.
DVN Dividend Yield: 1.43%

Specialty paper and fiber-based engineering materials manufacturer P.H. Glatfelter (NYSE:GLT) raised its quarterly dividend 11% to 10 cents per share, payable on May 1 to shareholders of record on April 4.
GLT Dividend Yield: 2.10%

Aerospace and defense company General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) raised its quarterly dividend 9.8% to 56 cents per share, payable May 10 to shareholders of record on April 12. This is GD’s 16th consecutive annual dividend increase.
GD Dividend Yield: 3.26%

Global gaming company International Game Technology (NYSE:IGT) raised its quarterly dividend 33% to 8 cents per share, payable on April 5 to shareholders of record on March 21. This is the 40th consecutive quarterly increase.
IGT Dividend Yield: 1.89%

Long-term debt and equity provider Main Street Capital (NYSE:MAIN) raised its quarterly dividend 11% to 15.5 cents per share for April, May and June, and is payable on April 15, May 15, and June 14 for shareholders of record on March 21, April 19, and May 21, respectively.
MAIN Dividend Yield: 5.56%

Energy services company Piedmont Natural Gas (NYSE:PNY) raised its quarterly dividend 3% to 31 cents per share, payable on April 15 to shareholders of record March 25. This marks the 35th consecutive year of dividend increases.
PNY Dividend Yield: 3.72%

Digital wireless communications company Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) raised its quarterly dividend 40% to 35 cents per share, effective for quarterly dividends payable after March 27..
QCOM Dividend Yield: 1.49%

Orthopaedic reconstructive device manufacturer Zimmer Holdings (NYSE:ZMH) raised its dividend 11% to 20 cents per share, payable on April 26 to stockholders of record  on March 29.
ZMH Dividend Yield: 1.06%
