Hi-Res Update: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch a new iPad Mini during the third calendar quarter of 2013, AppleInsider says. The forecast is based on reports from Asia indicating that the second-generation iPad Mini will feature a high-definition Retina screen. Most analysts had expected the company to add Retina screens to the iPad Mini line at some point. The reports also noted that demand for the iPad Mini has remained strong since the smaller-sized iPad debuted in October. However, demand for the standard-sized iPad has fallen. The reports say that Apple expects to ship 55 million iPad Minis this year. An update for the standard-sized iPad is also being prepared. Other reports had suggested a spring launch date for an updated iPad Mini.

Name Loss: Apple has lost another trademark battle south of the U.S. border, the Wall Street Journal notes. Mexico’s Supreme Court has ruled against Apple in a lawsuit over the use of the Ifone name. Back in 2009, Apple attempted to obtain a trademark for the iPhone name in Mexico. However, Mexican authorities said the name had been registered by an developer of IP telephony software named Ifone. Apple then filed a lawsuit asking the courts to cancel the trademark, but lower courts ruled in Ifone’s favor. Ifone is now suing Apple and three wireless carriers in Mexico for breach of its trademark. Last month, Apple lost a similar trademark battle in Brazil with a small handset maker who had previously registered a trademark for the iPhone name. Ironically, the phones produced by that company use Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android OS.

His Old Pad: A Los Gatos, California, home once owned by Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with the late Steve Jobs in the 1970’s, is back on the market, SFGate notes. The contemporary-styled home was built for Wozniak in 1986. He sold its sometime later. The 7,500-square-foot home features six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The house is surrounded by 1.19 acres. It is listed for $4.4 million.
