Changes: Apple (AAPL) is looking to give users easier interaction with popular video and photo-sharing services in its upcoming iOS refresh, MacRumors notes. The updated operating system — iOS 7 — is expected to be released this summer. It will feature deeper integration with Yahoo‘s (YHOO) photo-sharing service Flickr and IAC/InterActiveCorp‘s (IACI) video-sharing website Vimeo. Apple has previous integrated Facebook (FB) and Twitter access into earlier versions of iOS. Users will be able to automatically sign in to their Vimeo and Flickr accounts via iOS 7’s settings menu and share photos with friends with a single tap. The redesign of iOS has reportedly been lead by Apple’s senior designer Jony Ive, who is said to be dumping the 3D icon renderings found in earlier versions in favor of a “flatter” interface appearance.

Deal: On Wednesday, Penguin said it would pay $75 million to settle lawsuits over claims that it conspired with Apple to fix prices for e-books on the iBookstore, AppleInsider noted. The settlement would cover both private actions against the company and those brought by the attorneys general of a number of U.S. states. The book publisher had previously settled with the U.S. Department of Justice. 33 states had sued Penguin, Apple and four other publishers over the alleged collusion to set prices on the iBookstore. Apple, which has been identified as the “ringmaster” in the conspiracy by government prosecutors, has denied any wrongdoing.

Addition: Apple wants to add Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 smartphone to the list of devices it claims infringe on its patents, MacWorld notes. The company says the S4 violates five Apple patents. The litigation in a California U.S. District Court covers a range of products from the two mobile device makers, who have been trading patent infringement allegations for years. Last year, Apple won a $1 billion patent violation jury award against Samsung, but that was later reduced by the judge. The litigation is not expected to end any time soon.
