daily apple rumors AAPLMovement: When Apple (AAPL) unveils its much-anticipated smartwatch later this year, the device will be styled along the lines of a normal wrist watch, Business Insider notes. With all the buzz surrounding Apple’s much-rumored entry into the wearable computer business, a number of analysts were expecting a high-tech approach with a rectangular screen for displaying data. Not so, says Rosenblatt Securities analyst Brian Blair. After speaking with supply chain sources in Taiwan, Blair says Apple’s iWatch will have a round face and slim profile. Apple will produce a range of iWatch models, including watch sizes for men and women. According to Blair, the iWatch will commence production in July and August. He expects Apple to produce between 18 million and 21 million iWatches during the second half of 2014. Recent rumors have suggested that Apple’s iWatch will include health-monitoring sensors. Apple’s upcoming iOS 8, which will likely launch with the iPhone 6 in September, is expected to include a Healthbook app, which could received personal health data from the iWatch.

Nope: A well-connected Apple reporter is throwing cold water on reports that Apple will unveil a lower-priced iMac or cheaper iPhone 5s model at next week’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), MacRumors notes. Jim Dalrymple — who has a well-respected track record with rumors of upcoming Apple products — issued one of his iconic “nope” responses when asked about a report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that Apple would launch a new, cheaper iMac and a 8GB iPhone 5s at the WWDC. Apple recently trimmed the price of its MacBook Air line and is widely expected to refresh its iMac lineup some time this year.

Hacked: A California man says his iPhone has been hijacked by cyber criminals who are demanding money to unlock it, CBS News notes. Nathan Sohm says he received a message saying his iPhone had been hijacked by “Oleg Pliss” and directing him to send a payment to an online account to unlock the iPhone. “The whole reason I got into Apple was to prevent hacks and viruses. And here it is being hacked,” Sohm said. Reports of the Oleg Pliss iPhone hijackings started in Australia, but have since spread to New Zealand, Canada and now the U.S. The hackers seek out iPhones whose owners have not set passcodes on their phones and then exploit the “Find My iPhone” feature to seize control of the devices. Apple says that any iPhone owner hit by the scam should bring their phones to the nearest Apple Store where they can be reset. However, while resetting the iPhone will remove the hijacking, it will also delete all data stored on the iPhone. Thus, iPhone owners are also advised to back-up their devices. Apple says that the iPhone hijacking incidents have not affect its iCloud service.
