Wrestling fans are in for a treat as the WWE (WWE) has just signed a Hollywood deal that will produce six action movies starring various WWE wrestlers.

Lions Gate WWEThe first — Vendetta — will feature Paul ‘Big Show’ Wight.

The films will be produced in partnership with Lionsgate (LGF) — a pairing that has worked in the past on other films.

Variety reports that filmmakers the Soska sisters recently completed “See No Evil 2,” starring wrestler Kane, which Lionsgate will release in the fall.

Via Variety:

WWE Studios president Michael Luisi will oversee the films for WWE’s film arm that recently scored with horror film “Oculus,” a co-production with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Prods and Relativity Media.

WWE and Lionsgate have a long history together, having already produced “The Condemned,” with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and the first “See No Evil.”

The move is all part of the company’s stronger branding push — a smart move considering how Marvel Studios has taken off.

WWE Studios’ comedy “Knucklehead” is part of that push.

WWE powerhouse Vince McMahon has bemoaned the WWE Network and its negative effect — so this type of partnership is likely to only boost its financial strength.

WWE stock is down 34% year to date.

“Vendatta” follows a man who commits a crime to put himself in prison — in order to kill the man who murdered his wife.
