Yahoo (YHOO) CEO Marissa Mayer flubbed big time in France when she overslept and kept ad execs waiting hours.

yhoo stock berkshire hathawayMayer was there to improve relations with marketers — but seemingly blowing them off may have damaged relations more.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Mayer showed up two hours late to a dinner with marketers on Tuesday evening.

The paper reported — via an inside source — that the ad execs there were extremely displeased at her perceived slight.

In fact, Mayer was so late to the dinner that Interpublic Group CEO Michael Roth and other key attendees were already long gone by the time she showed. (Interpublic Group had arranged the private dinner.)

The Yahoo CEO was there for the Cannes advertising festival — but Mayer’s role was to woo ad execs, a key move for Yahoo’s continued survival.

Yahoo needs to significantly improve relations with marketers for continued ad success, insiders say, making her sleepy time mistake all the more of a gaffe.

In fact, Mayer herself assumed this role after she dropped Henrique de Castro — her chief operating officer — months ago.

YHOO is up .12% in early trading.
