Here are your Apple rumors and AAPL news items for today:

Apple, AAPLSecurity: Apple (AAPL) is looking at new ways to manage their devices’ security settings. The company recently filed a patent for a system that would allow devices’ security to change based on where it’s at, reports MacRumors. This could allow for a device to require a password or other security features when out of their home, but not when it’s in a familiar location. The service could also be used to change app layout while in different locations.

Liquidmetal: Apple has filed a application called “Counter-gravity casting of hollow shapes.” The application is an extension to a previous patent filed for a system involving liquidmetal. The company is having trouble figuring out the best way to mold the liquidmetal as fluctuating temperatures can cause the material to crystallize. To counteract this, the tech giant is looking into using a counter-gravity casting to better control temperatures, AppleInsider notes.

iPhone: Rumors claim that Apple is preparing to release the iPhone 6 later this year and likely in September, reports TechRadar. The price of the iPhone 6 has yet to be announced, but some speculate that the device will cost as much as $858 for the 4.7 inch version and $966 for the 5.5 inch version. The new version of the iPhone is also rumored to be completely redesigned, making it more than just a small update to the line.
