Apple (AAPL) has followed other tech giants such as Google (GOOG) and Twitter (TWTR) in releasing its workplace diversity data.
The company has similar diversity figures as its competitors with 30% of its global workforce being female — same as Google and Yahoo (YHOO). 20% of Apple’s tech workers are female.
The company also revealed that 55% of its U.S. staff is white, 15% is Asian, 11% of it is black and 7% of its employees are Hispanic. 77% of Apple’s U.S. employees are white or Asian and 13% are black or Hispanic.
“Let me say up front: As CEO, I’m not satisfied with the numbers on this page…” Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote in a letter. “We are making progress, and we’re committed to being as innovative in advancing diversity as we are in developing our products.”
AAPL stock is down about 0.2% Tuesday afternoon. GOOG stock is down 0.1%, TWTR stock is up 1.4% and YHOO stock is down 1.5%.
