4 Xbox One Updates Coming Fall 2014

Microsoft (MSFT) is rolling out several Xbox One updates coming this fall.

Xbox One UpdatesThe company announced the upcoming improvements in Microsoft’s press event ahead of the Gamescom conference in Germany. Here are four Xbox One updates coming this fall:

  • SmartGlass TV Streaming: Gamers will now be able to stream TV from their Xbox to SmartGlass apps for Windows, iOS and Android. The feature will only be available with a compatible tablet, smartphone PC that is on the same network as the Xbox One.
  • New Media Player: Microsoft is releasing a new media player for the Xbox One in the next few months that will allow video playback from an attached USB device or a DNLA-compatible connected device. More file formats will be supported by the new media player.
  • TV Improvements: Other Xbox One updates include TV viewing improvements. Users will be able to boot to TV when the Xbox One comes out of standby. There will also be a live TV mini guide with details on what they’re watching for OneGuide users.
  • Social Gaming Updates: Microsoft is also rolling several Xbox One updates for social gamers including a new Friends section and a new Snap Center.

MSFT stock is up 1.29% Wednesday afternoon.
