Mobile Facebook (FB) users may have noticed a jump in data usage and increased bills recently.
This jump could be due to the Facebook Autoplay feature, which has videos playing automatically. A recent study on the matter claims that this feature can cause users to max out their data limits and suffer higher charges more often than before it was rolled out, The Daily Mail notes.
Users can change settings on their phones to stop the Facebook Autoplay feature. Users of Apple (AAPL) devices can go to Settings, then Facebook and then settings again to turn the feature off. Google (GOOG) Andoird users can turn the feature off by opening their Facebook profile and going to General Settings, reports The Daily Mail.
The Facebook Autoplay feature also sometimes causes videos to play automatically when a person is at a computer. While this may not be a problem for many computer users, it could still be one for those with the limited data that if offered by many satellite internet providers, such as Dish Network (DISH), EchoStar’s (SATS) HughesNet and others. These settings can be changed in the same way that they are on Android devices.
FB shares were down slightly as of Wednesday afternoon.
