However, the company landed in second place after Amazon beat it out with a $4.6 million bid. It’s unknown what Amazon plans to do with the .buy domain, reports Cnet.

Google has made a list of domain names it wants to start offering through its registry service. The list has many different domain names, including the .buy domain. The tech company was also bidding on the .tech and .vip domains, but lost those auctions as well, Cnet notes.

Google lost the .tech domain to Dot Tech. Dot Tech plans to use the domain to set up an online environment for those in the tech community. The new domains Google lost out on buying are only a few of the 1,400 domains for sale by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, reports International Business Times.

AMZN shares were up slightly as of Thursday afternoon.
