apple-rumors-apple-aapl-ipad-launch-dateBeats: Apple (AAPL) Stores may soon start offering after-sale services for Beats electronics, reports 9to5Mac. News that the tech company’s stores may soon start offering after-sale services on Beats comes from a screenshot of a letter that is claimed to have been sent to Apple Service Providers. The letter has a published date of Oct. 14, 2014 and claims that the service providers will offer after-sale services on “Beats headphones, speakers, accessories and audio software.” If the letter is authentic, it could mean similar changes will happen at the tech company’s retail locations.

Launch: A new rumor claims that Apple will be launching its new iPads on October 24, MacRumors notes. According to the rumor, the company has started shipping large amounts of new products in preparation for a Oct. release. The products being shipped weren’t named and it can’t be confirmed that they are indeed new iPads. However, a Oct. 24 launch would fall in line with the company’s strategy of releasing devices a week after they’ve been unveiled. The new iPads are expected to be showed off at the company’s press event on Oct. 16.

Smartlock: Apple Stores will start carrying August Smart Locks this week, reports AppleInsider. The August Smart Lock will retail for $249.99 and is also available on the company’s online store. The smartlocks work by picking up Bluetooth signals sent from an iOS app. The device will unlock a user’s door wirelessly and virtual keys can be shared with friends and family members. The device uses four AA batteries that can keep it running for up to six months.
