fb-facebook-youtube-google-goog-videoAccording to recent data collected from Socialbakers, an analytics company that specializes in social media, Facebook videos are catching up to YouTube videos in terms of shares on the platform. The social media company is already beating YouTube regarding engagement with videos on its site, reports Forbes.

Socailbakers CEO Jan Rezab said that the data should worry YouTube. He also said that the surge of Facebook video interactions wasn’t just due to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and that his company had examples of more engagement coming from videos posted through the social media platform, Forbes notes.

“Back in 2012, marketers were not even considering alternative options for sharing video content on Facebook,” Evan James, Head of North American Marketing for Socialbakers, told InsideFacebook. “The standard process was to create a video, publish it to YouTube and share it via Facebook.”

FB shares were up 3% as of Friday afternoon.
