Facebook News: FB to Launch Ebola ‘Donate’ Button

Facebook (FB) is bringing some changes to help fight Ebola.

facebook-ebola-fbFacebook is starting three initiatives to help fight against Ebola. The first initiative will have it including a donate button at the top of users’ News Feeds. Clicking this button will allow users to donate money to helping stop Ebola. All money donate this way will go directly to charities working against the virus.

The second initiative by Facebook to combat Ebola is the introduction of educational materials about the illness. The social media platform is working with UNICEF to educate users about the symptoms of Ebola and how it spreads.

The final effort by Facebook to help combat Ebola is access to better communication in areas affected by the virus. This will include setting up 100 mobile satellite communication terminals  in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The terminals will give people a way to communicate and is part of a team up between the social media company and NetHope.
