Apps: Apple (AAPL) has released its list of the best iOS apps in 2014, reports 9to5MacFacebook’s (FB) Messenger app took the top spot for best free iOS app in 2014. Several other social media apps made the list of best free iOS apps. The best paid iOS app was the Heads Up! game. Other games, including Minecraft, also made the best paid iOS apps list. The highest grossing iOS app of 2014 was Clash of Clans and it was joined by several other games, such as Candy Crush Saga.

Demand: Demand for Apple’s iPhone 6 has remained strong as supplies of the smartphones increase, MacRumors notes. A new survey from Gene Munster, a Piper Jaffray analyst, shows that consumers still want to get their hands on the iPhone 6. The survey included 1,004 people in the United States and 50% of them said they planned to buy an iPhone 6 in the next three months. This is up 3% from a similar survey that was conducted in September. The increased demand for the smartphone comes as the company has started getting more shipments of the devices.

Sony: Apple has rejected an offer from Sony (SNE) to show The Interview on iTunes, reports AppleInsider. According to reports, Sony was seeking a deal that would have its movie showing up exclusively on iTunes. However, the tech company wasn’t ready to put the movie on iTunes as quickly as Sony wanted. This doesn’t mean that the movie won’t make it to the service someday, but it won’t be on it in the immediate future. It’s possible that the company didn’t want to host The Interview because it didn’t want to be a target for hacking groups.
