apple-rumors-iphone-falling-patentEncryption: Apple (AAPL) may have to help the Department of Justice break into its own devices, reports 9to5Mac. The Department of Justice is planning to use the All Writs Act to force the tech company to help with breaking encryption on its devices. The All Writs Act requires any company or person to aid in whatever way they can in a criminal investigation. However, it can’t force a company or individual to do anything that could be considered illegal.

iPad: A new video shows a mock up of Apple’s possible iPad Air Plus, MacRumors notes. The video uses an iPad Air Plus mock up that was created to match the dimensions of the possibly leaked specifications of the device. These specifications listed the device as being 305.31mm x 220.8mm x 7mm. The video then compares a device using these dimensions to other products offered by the tech company. Current rumors claim that the device will have a display of 12.9 inches or 12.2 inches.

Patent: A new Apple patent details a system that would adjust an iPhone’s angle when falling, reports AppleInsider. The new patent was granted to the company by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. It involves a system that would change the center of gravity for the smartphones so that fragile parts, such as cameras and glass displays, would be moved away from danger. To do this, the device would take advantage of accelerometers, gyroscopes and GPS to determine when it will impact and what the point of impact would be. After this, it will alter the device’s course so that it lands on its side or back.
