Cases: Apple (AAPL) has upped its standards for cases that are made for iPhones, reports 9to5Mac. The new guidelines require all case makers that are part of the company’s Made for iPhone program to take extra care with design. Included in the new guidelines are requirements that the case be able to protect an iPhone from a 1 meter drop on a hard surface from any angle. The device can not be damaged from the drop. It also requires case makers to have either a screen over the glass display to protect it or a lip that keeps the display 1 mm away from the ground. The guidelines also include a list of materials that are no longer to be used in iPhone case construction.
Safari: Apple has released Safari 8.0.2 for OS X Yosemite following its failed 8.0.1 release, AppleInisder notes. Included in Safari 8.0.2 is a fix that allows history to be shared across all devices without iCloud needing to be on and a fix to iCloud Keychain. One of the major fixes is that users who were unable to access Safari after the 8.0.1 update are now able to do so. The new update also includes the ability to import passwords and usernames from Firefox.
Watch: A new rumor claims that the Apple Watch may enter production earlier than previously thought, reports BGR. According to this rumor, which comes out of China, the smartwatch is expected to enter mass production in January. This is a month sooner than the previous estimate of February. It’s rumored that the initial run of the wearable tech will include 3 million to 5 million units and that there could be 25 million units made by the end of 2015.
