Google said that it doesn’t plan to get into the car making business, but that it wants to team up with a company already in the automotive industry. Chris Urmson, head of the self-driving car project, said that the company is currently in talks with some people in the automotive industry, reports Cnet.

Google’s self-driving car is designed to work without the use of traditional controlling mechanisms in a vehicle. This means that there is now steering wheel in the car and that it uses lasers to scan the area around it while driving, Cnet notes.

While Google is on board for teaming up with those in the automotive industry, car companies might not all feel the same. There is some concern that a deal with the tech company could affect how the companies make cars, reports The Wall Street Journal.

GOOG shares are up 1% as of Monday afternoon.
