Amazon’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) Japan division is cooperating with police in a child porn investigation.

amazon-child-porn-amznPolice searched the Tokyo headquarters of Amazon Japan on Friday. They also searched an affiliate of the company and one of its warehouses located in the Chiba Prefecture. The company said its responds to request from authorities based on the law, reports The Japan Times.

The investigation into Amazon Japan comes after two men on the website were found to be selling books with nude images of underage girls. The company is suspected of knowing that this type of material was being sold, but didn’t remove it from its website, The Japan Times notes.

Japan banned the distribution and production of child pron back in 1999. However, it wasn’t until June of 2014 that it made it illegal to own the material. The ban doesn’t extend to anime or manga and those that posses the illegal material have one year from the time the law was passed to get rid of their child porn, reports Time.

AMZN shares were down slightly as of Monday afternoon.
