Paul Godsmark, an expert on autonomous vehicles, believes that the technology mounted on top of the company’s mystery vans is for mapping purposes. He claims that it’s for LIDAR mapping, which he says is becoming more popular lately. The expert even went so far as to say  that the tech mounted on top of the vans could be Velodyne HDL-32E units. He cites the position of the equipment and the angle it sits at above the car for this reasoning.

Accoring to the report, the iOS 8.3 beta will open up next month and the iOS 9 beta will be available later this year. The iOS 9 beta will be released sometime during Summer. Apple will likely show off the upcoming operations system at the Worldwide Developer Conference in June and will release it Fall of this year. The new software is expected to have a focus on optimization and stability.

Display: Apple is reportedly looking to contribute to a new display production plant, reports AppleInsider. The plant would be run by Japan Disply, which is a merger of the display divisions from HitachiSony (NYSE:SNE) and Toshiba’s (OTCMKTS:TOSYY), and would be located in Ishikawa, Japan. The tech company may be looking to contribute a large amount to the $1.68 billion it would take to create the plant. The company’s investment would grant it most or all of the plants manufactured displays. The plant would reportedly create LTPS, which was also recently used in the iPhone 6.
