Google (NASDAQ:GOOG,NASDAQ:GOOGL), announced via a blog post on Friday, that Google Earth Pro is now free!

Google Earth Pro has been around for 10 years now and it includes a series of tool not available on the standard service. These tools include the ability to create HD videos of virtual trips, tools to measure 3D buildings and more.

Those who already have a Google Earth Pro account can continue to use it with no changes to their service. Others interested in jumping in on the service can obtain a free key by signing up here and the app here.

Google Earth Pro requires PC users to be using Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows XP, Vista or 7 or Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Mac OS X 10.6.0 or later.

Prior to be offered as a free service, Google Earth Pro costed $400 a year.
