Toyota Motor Corp (ADR)’s (NYSE:TM) Mirai, a car with a hydrogen fuel-cell, will be released this year.

hydrogen-fuel-cell-car-toyota-mirai-tmThe Toyota Mirai is a hydrogen fuel-cell car that will be released this fall, with online orders starting this summer. The cars will be available in eight dealerships located in California in October. These eight dealerships will be located in San Francisco, Roseville, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Longo, Santa Monica, Orange, and Tustin, reports Digital Trends.

California is a ripe area for the release of the Toyota Mirai. The state already has eight stations to refuel hydrogen fuel-cell cars. There are 49 more planned for the state, with some of them being funded by Toyota. The new car only has three being made a day and will cost $57,500, Digital Trends notes.

The Toyota Mirai is only being sold to select customers. Dealers will be limiting a person’s ability to purchase the hydrogen fuel-cell car depending how close they live to a hydrogen refuel station, reports Green Car Reports.

The Toyota Mirai showed up at a NASCAR race recently as the pace car for the event. It was the first time a hydrogen fuel-cell car had done so.
