Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) and Spotify are working on a rewards program together.

starbucks-spotify-sbuxThe deal between Starbucks and Spotify would allow subscribers of the latter to earn reward stars at the coffee houses. These rewards could be redeemed for free coffee and have the potential to be used at other locations. Also, customers can link their accounts with the coffee chain and music streaming service, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Spotify subscribers that link to a Starbucks account can suggest new songs for the coffee shops playlists. Baristas will take care of making the changes based on customer preference. This will also allow customers to save different stores’ playlists for listening to later, WSJ notes.

The decision to team up with Spotify comes three months after Starbucks announced that it was removing all CDs from its stores. This change has gone into effect and was the result of sales for the music format declining.
