The United States has announced that it will be forgiving federal student loans for Corinthian Colleges students.

corinthian-colleges-student-loansThe U.S. Department of Education has announced that students that were attending Corinthian Colleges can sign up for a closed school loan discharge. These students must have been attending the school when it closed or withdrew no later than June 20, 2014.

These students also can’t have transferred their credits from Corinthian Colleges to another school for a similar major. Students need to have not finished their classes as well to be eligible for this. Also, signing up for student loan forgiveness means that credits can’t be moved to another school.

Students also have the option of transferring their credits from Corinthian Colleges to another school. Doing this still leaves them open for possible loan forgiveness if they feel that they’ve been the victim of fraud or other illegal activities.

Corinthian Colleges announced that it was closing down all of its campuses in April. The news came as a shock to its 16,000 students. The decision to close down came after an investigation from the Department of Education.
