The Southwest Airlines sale started on Tuesday and the site surpassed its maximum capacity on Wednesday. This resulted in many customers seeing messages apologizing for the site being down. The sale includes tickets as low as $49 for some flights, reports CBS News.

Southwest Airlines has apologized for the issues and said it didn’t expect to get this much traffic. The company even noted that it added website capacity prior to the sale as a safety measure. Tickets on sale are for flights late August to mid-December and exclude Labor Day weekend and Thanksgiving, CBS News notes.

Attempts to visit Southwest Airlines website on Thursday resulted in slow loading and a notice that read as follows:

“We apologize for any difficulty you may be experiencing on Southwest.com due to high Customer demand. Please know we’re working to fix the issue as soon as possible. The sale has been extended through Friday 6/5 to give you extra time to book.”
