Microsoft (MSFT) has announced the Windows 10 release date in a blog post on is website.

Microsoft will release Windows 10 on July 29. The blog that included the announcement also had a message from Cortana, which is MSFT’s own take on Apple’s (AAPL) Siri, about the announcement. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 owners can upgrade to 10 for free.

One of the major features of Windows 10 is the return of the Start menu. This was missing in Windows 8 and its absence enraged many customers that bought it. Windows 8.1 was released as part of an effort to change users’ opinion of the operating system.

Windows 10 will include Microsoft Edge. Edge is the company’s new web browser that will replace Internet Explorer. 10 will also include OneNote and Outlook for free, but Office 2016 will have to be bought separately.
