Publix, a supermarket, released a statement via Facebook that said the coupon was a hoax. The retailer said that none of its stores would be accepting the fake Publix coupon and that it recommends users of the social media website to not reveal their personal information.

The $100 Publix coupon that is floating around claims that it will give users one heck of a deal. The coupon claims to be for “$100 off your purchase of $120 or more.” The retailer said that it was currently investigating the matter.

Those that keep up with Facebook news and hoaxes won’t be surprised by this most recent one. A similar fake coupon for Kroger (KR) was seen last month. It claimed to get those that share it $100 off their next purchase over $110.

Facebook users that are wary of a post, but aren’t quite sure if it’s fake or not can use Snopes.com to discover its validity. The website deals specifically in debunking fake stories and hoaxes.

Facebook announced earlier this year that it made some changes to its platform to lessen the distribution of viral hoaxes. However, many scams still get shared and the company said it won’t directly delete these posts from users’ News Feeds.
